I work with couples who are reaching out for help for many different reasons; communication problems, ongoing conflict, trust and intimacy issues, commitment to the relationship.
2. Couples age 30-50
They are seeking therapy due to difficulties transitioning to parenthood and with parenting issues. During the pregnancy and immediate postpartum period, the couple moves from the role of spouse to the role of parent. Most people are not prepared for that change. Belsky and Kelly observed that “some marriages decline and others improve during the transition” (Transition to Parenthood, 1994, p.17). All individuals and marriages change, though, as a result of a baby.
3. Couples in transitional phases and managing crisis
I work with couples who are trying to adjust to changes in life that causes some stress. Some of these changes are generally positive such as marriages, births, and new jobs. Although they may be accompanied by their own unique stressors. Other major life transition may cause a significant amount of stress such as moving, retirement, or entering the “empty nest” phase of life. I help my clients go through these crisis-related challenges as smoothly as possible as a healthy and aligned team.
You will receive support during this challenging period of your life. Dealing with a change successfully may leave you stronger, more confident, and better prepared for what comes next in life. It also make clear what is important in your life and allow for greater self -discovery and self -awareness.
